My Journey – Part 3

After a few days of crying, it seemed pointless to me, even though I couldn’t seem to stop, I just kept crying and doing PT. After a couple of days I was transferred to Brookwood Hospital that specialized in Physical Therapy, I had a LOT of PT to do because my right side was totally immobile and let me tell you, EVERYTHING about PT was very tiring to me, at the time I wasn’t sure, but I am now convinced that this is exactly the way strokes affects a person.

I think I hated that hospital because it’s routines completely EXAUSTED me. I think I remember sleeping after every PT regimen I went through… totally hated that place; BUT, I learned to love it in the long run because it forced me to get my right side back as I learned how to walk again even though I would never be the same as I had been pre-stroke I was glad they helped me get back at least a part of of my old self.

I Spent 32 days in Brookwood. That was the LONGEST month of my life, at least that’s the way I remember it. I got to be friends with all the RPT’s and they were very helpful and treated me with kindness as I learned to adapt to my “new” body. Guess after what I had put them through with all my tears and sniping they didn’t hold a grudge.

See you next post…
